Imagery of 'As Above, So Below 🙃' by The Book Photographer
We would like to share the beautiful photos made by Justina Nekrašaité, known as The Book Photographer. She photographed one of our newest publications by artist Ruchama Noorda, As Above, So below 🙃.
Â
Justina is a print photographer with a very recognizable style, she understands what a book needs to fully come to it's own.
At Jap Sam Books we like to think of books as objects. The tactility, weight and colours of a book have a very big impact on the overall impression and can strengthen the concept and content of a publication. Justina is able to capture all of this in her photography and ensures a lifelike convey of publications even when you are not able to feel the physical object in your hands.

As Above, So Below 🙃 documents the work made by Amsterdam-based artist, Ruchama Noorda over a twenty-year period an explores the esoteric system of belief that links her practice to the early twentieth century Lebensreformers, the European avant-garde, and today's no growth environmentalist movement. This book offers a comprehensive overview of the artists' installations, drawings, videos, sculptures, and performances with written commentary by the artist and by California-based art and cultural critic Dick Hebdige. The reader is invited to enter Ruchama's world where dreaming mirrors action, where life and work, prana and carnality, micricosm and macrocosm open into one another.
