The Best Dutch Book Designs of 2023 are here!!

This year 5(!) of the 33 titles selected by the professional jury are publications by Jap Sam Books, what a crazy amount. On top of that, 2 of these titles are also selected by the student jury. Many thanks to both of the Best Dutch Book Designs juries.

Today, Wednesday November 8th, the Sieger White Award 2022 and the first copy of Myriad Ways of Being ~ Being of Myriad Ways. Simone Albers will be presented to the artist at Gallery Maurits van de Laar, this event also marks the opening of the eponymous exhibition at the gallery (November 1st - 25th 2023).

The Best Dutch Book Designs 2022 exhibition will be on view at the Frankfurter Buchmesse, including including multiple Jap Sam Books publications! The exhibition will also be on view until December 31st at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.

As we speak, The Best Dutch Book Designs 2021 are on display in an exhibition at the Shanghai Art Book Fair 2023, and closer to home at GRID Groningen! Our publication Rollable Ramblings. Koen Taselaar is part of these special exhibitions. Published by Jap Sam Books, initiated by Block C Groningen, design by Team Thursday, and Printed by Zwaan Lenoir.

We are excited to announce the nomination the Prix Bob Calle 2023 of jaune, geel, gelb, yellow. Monochrome by artist Antonis Pittas, designed by Alex Farrar! Publisher Eleonoor Jap Sam, and artist Antonis Pittas will attend the prize ceremony on June 8th in Paris. This award has been created to show and celebrate the particular art form that is the artist's book, and to help its recognition and international influence.

As we speak, the jury of the Best Dutch Book Designs 2022 is already busy selecting this years 33 publications. Our very own Eleonoor Jap Sam, founder and publisher of Jap Sam Books is part of the 2022 professional jury! The nominations will be revealed soon, but before that happens we would like to share last years catalogues and jury report including two publications by Jap Sam Books: Rollable Ramblings. Koen Taselaar (professional and student jury) and Repairing Earthquake Project 2011-2021 (student jury).
