January 18th at Pakhuis de Zwijger, a special book event of The Civic Empowerment Toolbox will take place. Speakers: Ben Schouten (author, emiritus lector Play and Civic Media HvA), Sabine Niederer (researcher Visual Methodologies HvA), Eleonoor Jap Sam (founder and director at Jap Sam Books), Willem van der Ven (Designer), Silvia Cazacu (PhD researcher at KU Leuven), and Saskia Beer (founder/director Transformcity).

With a few days left of this year we look back to a great year. Team Jap Sam Books thanks everyone for their support, and we already have new launches lined up for you in the new year. Our office is closed from December 23th until January 6th. You can still order from our webshop during this period, but orders will be shipped after January 6th.

We are excited to already announce the first book events and launches of the new year! Starting off with a book presentation of RAABJERG by Rune Peitersen at Club Solo, followed by a book presentation of The Civic Empowerment Toolbox by Ben Schouten at Pakhuis de Zwijger. After this the launch of two special limited edition artist books will take place, Mother's Milk by Marie Ilse Bourlanges and Displace by Elena Khurtova at Looiersgracht 60.

Lesia Topolnyk received the prize on December 1st from Gunay Uslu, the state secretary for Media and Culture, at The New Institute.

The grand opening of the Prix de Rome Architecture 2022 exhibition named Healing Sites took place last week. The healing sites the nominated architects worked on during the past months will be on show until April 9th, 2023 in Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam. 

Jap Sam Books and Ben Schouten are excited to announce the newly launched publication The Civic Empowerment Toolbox, a playful approach to civic empowerment. 

Ton Kraayeveld will present his new publication Labyrinth. Ton Kraayeveld on November 13th, 3PM in the Dordrechts Museum. One of the authors, Marie Jeanne de Rooij will interview Ton Kraayeveld and Renate Boere, designer of Labyrinth will talk about the design.
